Age: Sixteen
Gender: Female
District/Area: District One
Appearance:
Adora Valentine wouldn't exactly fit the appearance of intimidating. In fact, she looks rather fragile. She stands at about four feet and eleven inches - if not five feet exactly - and is quite the petite girl. Her eyes are a frosty blue and seem to shine with an innocence that couldn't be taken away if it weren't for the Games. Her light brown hair cascades down her back stopping right below her shoulder blades like a perfectly straight waterfall. With a slender figure and small frame, Adora doesn't really look like she could stand too much of a chance in the Games which is odd for a Career. Not that she seems to mind.
Personality:
There is one trait that stands out like a shining beacon about Adora: she is happy. Despite the tragic reality of the world around her, there always seems to be a smile curling her lips and a joyous sparkle in her eyes. Even when it's not needed, giggles seem to bubble up from inside her. With a heart that loves everyone, she's incapable of feeling hatred - even towards the capital. She has no regrets and embraces life with open arms. To her, everything has a reason and she always looks for the brighter side. Even when someone becomes a tribute. The way she looks at it, everyone has an equal chance at surviving the Games no matter what district they're from. Everyone has the same odds. The way they turn just depends on how you gamble.
An unnatural innocence seems to shield her from the harsh reality though she has just come to accept the Games. They are here and they don't look like they're going to be leaving anytime soon; there's no reason to cry about them. Or to be afraid. Though, being raised in District One is probably the madness behind this logic. Of course she'd think like that. Tributes are made here. Being drawn is not a death sentence. It is an honor. However, she seems to be an odd one. It is true that she is not afraid of her name being called. But that doesn't mean she wants to be selected, either.
Another thing someone may quickly notice about Adora is that she tends to act like a child. She's curious, nosy, innocent, optimistic, and - let's not forget - temperamental. No one would be in the wrong comparing this teen to a toddler. Though her fits are few and far between, if she happens to be in the middle of one, everyone knows about it. She's not above through a tantrum like a toddler if she doesn't get what she wants. Which seems to be one of the major negative traits of hers. Along with the constant need of attention, affection for games, and horrible memory (this is mostly for names - she has to create nicknames for everyone). Though, none of this is going to stop her from living life the way she sees fit.
History:
Adora is the baby of the family, which may just support the reason she still acts like a child. Raised by Riley and Ninon Valentine, she was brought up to believe that anything is possible and that life is too short to wake up with regrets in the morning.Though, despite the fact that she is daddy's little girl, she does have a favorite family member - Bradley Valentine, her brother. Ever since she could remember, Bradley had been more of a father to her than their actual father. He made sure to spend as much time as he could with Adora and there was hardly a time she wasn't seen clinging to his side. He refuses to let Adora work and, if it weren't for him being twenty, she wouldn't sign up for tesserae. But he is and she does. Despite being in District One, her family's not exactly the richest around. They may not be like a family in the Seam of District Twelve but that doesn't mean they couldn't use any handout they get.
