OOC: So basically, this will be a short thread to indicate how Ben gets into the Hunger Games...
IC: Ben had made it to the Capitol. Weary and dirty, but he'd made it nonetheless. If he could enter himself in the games, he would get cleaned again, then go out and face his death...
It was warmer here; therefore, Ben discarded his jacket, revealing a form-fitting, bright blue, solid tshirt. Humble attire, but it was perfect for Ben.
His cerulean eyes gazed around the wide city slowly, as he grasped everything there was to see in the Capitol. His eyes eventually stopped on the Dome, but then he walked forward towards the innermost city... in hopes of finding someone official to talk to. He needed... he had to be in the Games this year.

Paul stood next to his window in his room at the building that housed the Tributes, staring at the streets below. He wished he could go back in time and stop allot of things. Mainly breaking up with Annie. He was a fool, a mere puppet in most people's eyes. He didn't care what they thought however, they aren't here in his situation. They weren't going to go into an arena and have to fight til their last breath. They weren't facing their deaths sooner than they should. Paul felt a tear run down his left cheek as a thought entered his mind again.
You're going to die and there's nothing anybody can do to stop it.
Some of the other Tributes seemed to want to give him hell about his choices. Evidently word had spread of what he had done. But none of that mattered now. His sea blue eyes scanned the many heads of the passing Capitol folks. He noticed one of the heads looked out of place since one; it wasn't a weird color and two; it seemed to be gaining attention from some of the other civilians. Paul walked out of his room in search of one of the Capitol officials as he thought of a way to get out of the Games.

OOC: Because I know you're busy, I'll skip a few minor details and get straight to it.
IC: Ben walked out of the official's building with a solemn but pleased look on his face. It had been done. Things would have to happen quickly, if they were to happen correctly, but... nonetheless, it was done.
Ben would switch places with Paul in the Games.
As he walked out, the crowd of people approached him like an ocean wave, asking his questions and begging for his voice in the microphone. Ben said nothing, only waved and smiled weakly at a few of the bystanders.
Then he saw a figure that was only familiar to him through the monitors he saw back home, in D4. It was Paul. Ben approached him carefully, as not to startle anyone and attract more followers. As the Capitol officials shooed them away, Ben spoke before Paul could speak up.
"I know you," Ben said, smiling a bit. "You're Paul. I'm taking your place in the Games this year, so you can rest easy." He flashed Paul a toothy smile and laid a hand on his shoulder. "You deserve to rest, from what I hear."

Paul walked toward the Capitol Official's home or office, whichever it was, accompanied by a few Peacekeepers. They were there mainly to make sure he wouldn't try to kill himself or try to run away. He hadn't planned on doing either, he just wanted to go and talk to the Capitol Official. That was it. He scrubbed the plan he had thought of earlier, it was just too stupid. The Capitol knew exactly who he was, where he was from, and those he cared for. There was no way they would believe he was an impostor. Not only that but they might have killed him if they believed him.
As he approached the building, he noticed a rather large crowd surrounding it. Mainly reporters, but there were a few residents of the Capitol as well. They all seemed to be hoarding around one person, a guy from what Paul could tell. Of course it was hard to get a good glimpse of the person since everyone was practically pushing and shoving to see him. Then the guy started to approach him, but Paul didn't care. He could tell that the guy wasn't going to hurt him. Maybe it was the two Peacekeepers or the Capitol Officials shooing people away, but he could definitely tell the guy wasn't going to hurt him.
Then he started to speak to Paul. Paul was shocked at what the guy had just told him. There was no way that this could have been done. No way whatsoever that he knew of. "You better not be screwing with me." Paul said.

Ben chuckled, meeting the man's eyes. "No, I kid you not." He started, shoving his arm in the way of a camera. "The Hunger Games is an event I have to do..." Ben started, beginning to study this man.
He looked... emotionally worn out. Ben guessed that he had been through quite a bit, both emotionally and physically. Though it wasn't any of his business, he silently assessed the man. He seemed like a decent young man, but the poor guy definitely needed someone to take his place. He wore an exhausted look.
"I'll take your place. You can go... do whatever. I got this switched out pretty easily, actually." said Ben, knocking another camera. "You can thank me when I win for you." He flashed him a half-sarcastic smile.

Paul stared at the guy with a dumbfounded look. How could this happen? More importantly, why should he ponder it any further? This guy traveled to the Capitol to take his place. He should have felt ecstatic, but he only felt . . . confused. He had wanted to go in the Games to know what Annie had gone through, but he also didn't want to die without knowing if he messed everything up beyond repair. But from what she had done back in District 4, it didn't seem that way.
Paul felt tears start to form in his eyes and before he could stop himself he hugged the guy that took his place. "Thank you," Paul said as he felt a hot tear stream down his left cheek. He didn't want to know why this guy had to be in the Games, all Paul knew was he was free of them. The last couple of days he had been holed in his room pondering his life. Only coming out for meals and to go to the training. Now he would only have to worry about going home or somehow staying in the Capitol for the duration of the Games. Then he heard the guy's comment about thanking him. "Don't worry you've got two damned good trainers. But the other Tribute from our District is, well kinda scary," Paul said.

Ben returned the hug and chuckled again, patting Paul on his back. "No worries buddy, you don't have to cry. You'll be okay." Ben joked, then pulled back. He listened intently as Paul spoke about the trainers and the other strange tribute.
"Hah," He started, flashing another smile, "I'll be sure to be on my best guard. Looks as though I've missed most of the formalities..." The young man kicked his foot in the ground, then returned to Paul's eyes. "Though I suppose I'll have my interview underway soon enough, and at least a little training before I'm put in there."
Ben stopped momentarily, and looked up. "Well actually, I don't expect to live very long. I just... want to be there. You know?" Ben laughed at himself, then continued. "Or maybe you don't know... I guess it doesn't make much sense."
Though Ben knew he couldn't linger long, he still had a question for Paul before they parted ways forever. Ben was a natural at reading people, and Paul seemed heavy with stress. "You seem worried, in spite of the fact that you won't die this year. What's wrong?"

As Ben made a joke, Paul couldn’t help but smile a little. It felt weird to have a naturally smile again. For the last two years he had to fake smiles around the other Careers. That was back when he wanted to be in the Games. Back when he actually cared what people thought about him. In the little time Paul had back in District 4 after seeing Annie again, he had changed some of his views about certain people. He openly showed his loathing for the other Careers, whether he knew them or not, he even started to disregard Finnick’s training schedule.
”Ah the Interviews. So unnecessary, it’s just like having an animal show right before you kill the animals,” Paul said as he watched the guy. He didn’t seem that nervous at all, Paul wished he could have the steel nerves that this guy had. It was weird how strong you could be on the surface, yet how fragile you are on the inside.
What the guy said next didn’t shock Paul, hell it was what he had been thinking as well. ”Don’t sell yourself short. You could last a long time in the Games. Just gotta play it right and yeah, I know what you mean. I wanted to go through the Games to win so I would know how someone I care deeply for felt.”
Paul looked over his shoulder at the two Peacekeepers that were still standing there. He really hated having to be followed of he wanted to go somewhere, but evidently it had to be done. Paul shook his head and barely caught what his replacement had said. ”Long story short. I was an asshole to the woman I love and now I’m trying to make it up to her. I don’t have a clue as to how to do it, but I’m gonna try to find a way to.” Paul said.

"Yeah..." Ben said. It really was like an animal show before killing them off, one by one. All for the sick enjoyment of the capitol... it was nothing short of sick and depressing. Ben hated to think about it, but he felt the need to jump in nonetheless. His dad was probably worried sick...
Ben thought about what Paul said, but his inability still seemed to get at him. "I don't know," he said, chuckling, "I don't think I'll last to long. I'm not a career, I'm not anyone special... I'm Mr. Just-a-Guy." Ben smiled. Even though he would be walking into his death, he thought, he wasn't scared about it.
As Paul spoke about the woman, Ben slowly nodded in understanding. "Yeah, I get that." He clasped the man's hand firmly, giving it a last shake. "I hope everything goes well for you, I really do. Good luck with her." He flashed Paul a genuine smile. "I think I should go. Better get caught up with the others... Paul, it was good to meet you."
