Eliza began walking towards the Careers usual training grounds. What the mayor had in mind for her to do today she had no idea. She didn't want to do it either, she was find sticking to the sidelines and just watching them practice. They didn't do anything real dangerous, just fun little cute things. Well she found them cute anyways.
Most of the guys believed that she was hot. She wasn't going to lie, she was rather modest. She believed that she was tempting, but she didn't believe that the guys would give up their life training for her. Although the girls were supposed to if she was to ever be picked to participate in the games. She sighed. She didn't know what to do anymore, her whole life was confusing.

In all honestly, she really didn’t know what to do. She never really knew what to do. She did know one thing, though: she was supposed to be training. Her brother would often take her to the career’s training grounds. Despite the fact that just the thought of his sister being selected as a tribute scared him to death, he knew training definitely wouldn’t hurt her. However, she hardly ever trained. The most she did was run around the place at random. Occasionally, she’d stop beside someone; she’d do whatever they were doing for about fifteen seconds, before growing absolutely bored with the whole thing and leaving.
But, today, she felt like something different. She felt like playing a game. Though, as usual, no one would want to play with her. “What good will a game of hide-and-seek do in the Games?” is what she’d picture them thinking. Add a little snort at the end and she’d end up skipping off with a giggle. Which was exactly what she was doing. After her little invitation was turned down for the fifth time that day, she just whirled around on her heels and skipped off.
Though, this time, something caught her frosty eyes. Instantly she froze and tilted her head toward a familiar face. She’s seen the girl around before. She’s probably even heard her name and possibly even conversed with her (because Adora talks to everyone). Yet she was drawing a complete blank. Not like that was abnormal. Adora had quite the awful memory. She even had trouble remembering her own name at times.
A curious spark lighted her eyes. A quiet giggle bubbled up and her normally happy smile curled her lips. Maybe she would like to play a game with Adora? There was only one way to find out.
Slowly, she made her way towards the girl, head tilted to the side innocently as she greeted her. “Hey? Wanna’ play a game with me?” Short. Sweet. And to the point.

Eliza smiled as a girl began walking towards her. What could she possibly want. As soon as Eliza realized who it was she realized that it was bad. This girl had been known to be just as much as a distraction as herself. Although she wasn't there to be a distraction, she was there to train!
Eliza stood up as she got to her. She didn't want to do anything right now. She wanted to sort out her thoughts, but obviously this little girl wouldn't take a no. When she asked Eliza if she wanted to play a game Eliza thought that it would be fun, but it always depended on the game.
"What game were you thinking of" she said smiling. If it was a game that vaguely amused her, she would play, if not she would send her on her way and go to one of the other training areas and see what guy would fall for her today

She clasped her hands behind her back as she began to ponder the multiple games that they could play. As she rocked back on her heels, she hummed softly, her eyes rolling up to towards the sky as if the answer would be written there. The fact of the matter was that Adora was just an indecisive person. All the games she enjoyed to play started to dance around in her mind as she contemplated the possible out comes and excuses she could use to want to play such games (a sixteen year old wanting to play a child's game was odd).
There was hide-and-seek. Her normal excuse for that game was that it taught someone how to be the hunter or the hunted. How to stalk and how to stay hidden. Then there was tag - which built up cardio and respiratory fitness in her mind. Catch the Flag was another fun game. Couldn't that also benefit someone in the games as well?
Whatever her reason is wouldn't matter if she couldn't find a game for them to play. Again, she hummed in thought. Really, she could go for any of them. Why not let the other decide? Soon her wide smile returned to her features, her feet becoming firmly planted to the ground. "Well, let's see. There's hide-and-seek. Or tag. Maybe Catch the Flag? I'd be fine with any of those. Unless you have something else in mind?" She arched an eyebrow in curiosity as the last comment slipped from her lips. Really, she didn't care as long as she had someone to hang out with for the time being.

Eliza smiled. Maybe this girl could keep her mind off of certain things. Things that she probably shouldn’t think in the first place. Possibly this could get more guys to look at her than just sitting on the sidelines. As she contemplated each game she suggested she decided on Tag.
”I think tag will do” she said as she moved more towards the careers and now her and Adora had switched spots. ”By the way” she said as she put her hand on Adora’s shoulder. ”Your It!” she said as she ran off towards the Careers.
As she neared the Careers she heard screaming. What was going on now? Something was wrong. When she turned towards Adora she saw a spear moving towards a dummy, but running towards her, and in the path of the Spear was Adora, as she ran towards Adora, she reached up and grabbed the Spear’s shaft seconds before Adora made it to where the Spear would have hit her. As the wood handled spear ripped through her skin on her right hand she screamed in pain. This wasn’t good, but possibly take the minds of the careers off of training.
As she heard people running towards her she dropped to her knees. As she released the spear and it dropped to the ground in front of her knees she saw slivers of wood in the palm of her hand still. As someone reached down and grabbed her hand she screamed out again in pain. She looked up at the one that had grabbed her hand and she had tears in her eyes.
I want someone else to post here before you do….

While there had been others in the training grounds, more experienced kids his age to practice with, Ren always preferred to train with his brother. It was a good way for Hugo to get as much training and practice as possible until the Reaping. Not to mention that it was a good opportunity for them to bond as brothers. They'd arrived early, wanting to get some of the better weapons to use. Swords were their choice and the sound of metal clanging against metal had soon filled the clearing. Ren offered any and all advice he could to his brother, telling him the right areas to place your feet, how to defend yourself agaisnt an attack. Hugo was doing quite well these days and Ren suspected it was the threat of the Reaping hanging overhead that filled his brother with adrenaline.
It wasn't that Ren wasn't scared, because everyone was scared. Even if they were so called Careers, people who volunteered for these Games. Ren didn't want to die, not at eighteen anyway, fighting kids even younger than Hugo. He knew that the Games had been invented as a result of punishment, so that no one would think to rebel again. As he watched Hugo slash away his sword, Ren realized that his brother could be the one fighting in the arena soon. He was old enough now, hell he was sixteen. It was easier when Ren was the only one eligible to be chosen. Every year he thought the same thing, what if Hugo's name is called? Ren knew that he would volunteer to take his brother's place, even if Hugo, who wanted to prove himself in the arena, would hate him for it.
"Ren!" His brother's irritated cry jarred him from his thoughts and he shook his head. Hugo was standing there, his arms folded across his chest. His golden hair was a jumble of messy curls on his head and his bright, blue eyes were clouded with annoyance. The training grounds had filled now, with other kids who were training as Careers. "You're not paying attention again..."
Ren shook the thoughts from his head. "Sorry, Hugo. I don't know what's wrong with me this-" He trailed off when the screaming started and turned to see a spear flying through the air toward two girls. He watched as one of the girls reached up and grabbed the spear before it hit the other. Raising his eyebrows, obviously impressed at the girl's swiftness, Ren dropped his sword and followed the crowd. He eased his way to the front with Hugo behind him and knelt down beside her, taking her hand. "Hey, it's okay," he said when she cried out in pain. He inspected the wound, licking his lips at the amount of slivers. "They don't look too deep."

It took Adora a second to register what had just happened. All she knew was that tag was the game. And, ready to lunge forward to tag the other girl, she was surprised when her hand fell upon her shoulder. Blinking, she stared at the other as she calmly said that she was it and took off running. One. Two. Three.
Adora was it. A wicked smirk tugged at the corners of her lips as the thought finally seemed to penetrate that dense skull of hers. Within the next second, she was sprinting, chasing the other girl that had gotten a bit of a head start. Her brother had always said that there were three deadly things about Adora: she was as quick and nimble as a rabbit, as flexible as a snake, and could climb trees like a squirrel. With her mind swimming around those certain traits, her brother’s voice popped into her head, sending up a warning flag that was ultimately ignored. But none of those things can save your life if you don’t pay attention!
Suddenly, the other girl was close to her but something was wrong. Panic was evident on her face and she was reaching forward. In turn, Adora leaned back, twisting her body to see what she was reaching for. That’s when she saw it. With wide eyes, Adora screeched and fell to her knees in an attempt at dodging the spear that would have made a nasty picture of her head. Though her attempt was that in vain. The other girl had managed to catch the spear.
“Ohmigosh! Ohmigosh! I’m so sorry! I… I… Oh please don’t tell Bradley! Please! He’ll… He’ll… Ohmigosh! Are you okay?! Please tell me you’re okay!” Adora found herself kneeling beside the injured girl, her own hands hovering over the others. All her words seemed rushed because panic was rising inside her. This… Was not the first time something like this had happened. But each time Adora would panic and tears would well up in her eyes.
She tilted her head up when she noticed someone else had came over to check out the scene. Hurriedly, she tried to explain what had happened: “Sh-She caught the spear! A-And… Splinters! Is she going to be okay?” She sounded desperate and worried and she didn’t even know the girl.

Eliza looked up at boy that had taken her hand. As he looked at her wounds she tried to pull away. As he stated that they didn’t look deep it didn’t matter to her. They hurt. She wasn’t one to be able to deal with pain. Pain hurt, and she didn’t like it. That’s why she wasn’t chosen to become a career, she didn’t like pain, certain people could handle it, she wasn’t one of them.
She heard Adora rambling on. ”No one is going to tell anyone” she said sharply. Meaning none of the careers and trainers could say a word to the mayor, Adora’s brother, or her family. She wasn’t going to get in trouble for not listening. Although she probably just proved that she could be a tribute, if she could handle pain she could be a good one. Who else could snatch a spear out a thin air, probably only her.
She moved her long black hair over her shoulder with her good hand as she felt a few of the guys helping her up so the one that had her hand could take the splinters out easier. Eliza watched as Adora followed them over towards the beginning of the training station so that she could sit down on a log. Hopefully no one she knew would walk by and see the commotion or let alone the mayor walk by and see no one training.

Ren's bright blue eyes glanced up to Adora and then back to Eliza. Upon being closer to the two of them, he realized he'd seen them before. If not at the training grounds then at the Reapings. Despite the fact that they lived in the same district, Ren realized that he didn't even know their names. He was usually keeping to himself, or with the other boys around his age, or hanging around with his brother. It was better not to make too many friends, especially if one day you might have to kill them in the Games. That was Ren's way of thinking about it anyway.
He hung back a little as some of the other boys moved in to help Eliza to her feet. He looked over to Adora, letting his hands fall to his sides. "She'll be okay," he replied, hoping to reassure her. He followed the two girls over to where Eliza was sitting, aware that Hugo was still waiting for him with a look of irritation. He paused and looked back over his shoulder. "Why don't you go home and take a break?" His brother simply rolled his eyes, picked up Ren's weapon, and then disappeared.
Ren turned his attention back to the two girls and knelt down beside them again. He knew he'd never be able to get the smaller splinters out, with his larger hands and fingers. Still, he could try to get the larger ones out. He remembered coming home with a splinter or two when he was younger. "So, I haven't seen you, either of you around here much," he started. He turned to Adora at the mention of her brother's name. "You're Bradley's sister." He said this as a fact, rather than a question.

A little bit of the panic and worry that had started to consume her ebbed away when the other girl claimed that no one was going to tell anyone and with the promise the other man had made: she'll be okay. The last thing she wanted was Bradley finding out that she had been goofing off again when she was supposed to be training. He'd give her another one of his long lectures about why this is important and why she should be cooperating and listening to him and everyone else. Yeah, she knew he care. She honestly understood where he was coming from - he just wanted her to stand a chance in the Games if she were to be chosen - but she just... she didn't care. She was always one to follow the line of: let what happens, happen.
Though her mood was starting to inflate back to the giddy happiness she normally expressed, she still felt bad for the other girl. If Adora had been paying more attention, she wouldn't have had to catch the spear. She still felt bad even though she wasn't showing it so much with the joyous smile on her lips and the life shining back in her eyes. Instead, the teenager showed her concern by sticking close to the others side, eyes staring at the splintered hand. Uncomfortable with the site, she fidgeted with the hem of her shirt yet couldn't find the will to look away until the other man that had joined them spoke.
Frosty eyes flickered up to look into his; her happy smile had deflated slightly on the trip over to the log that she knelt in front of. He hadn't seen them around. So this time she wouldn't need to blame her horrid memory on the fact that his name wasn't known. That made the smile slowly crawl back to her pale lips. And it brightened even more at the mention of Bradley's name and the recognition of her being related to him. But just as quickly as it was summoned, it faltered. What if he told Bradley? "Yeah. I'm Adora! His little sister. B-But please don't tell him I was goofing around again. Please! He'll start accompanying me when I'm training and.. and.. I love him but I just want to have fun, y'know!" she whimpered pitifully, sweeping her gaze around the area to make sure that her brother didn't decide to see how she was doing like he had other times before.
Satisfied with what she found - or didn't find for that matter - her gaze returned to the injured girl and the blond male. And, in her attempts to help, she exclaimed with a certain enthusiasm she always seemed to have, "Do you want me to help you take the splinters out? They need to come out or you might get an infection!"

Eliza smiled as he said that he hadn’t seen her around. He was either really determined or he had just never been near any of the areas that she usually frequented. She smiled as Adora began to brighten up. She didn’t want her panicking anymore because of the fact that if her brother did walk buy, it would just look like Eliza got hurt and Adora came over to help, but she was training. That was things would work out for all of them
”I’m usually around the training grounds, but I never train. I’m not a Career” she said as they pulled out the first of many splinters. She tried to pull her hand back for the second time because as the wood came out of her hand, it opened up the cut that it made a little more and let oxygen in. As the oxygen hit the serrated skin and now leaking blood it began to sting more than the initial sting from grabbing the spear.

It made sense, or at least it did to Ren. He was often too busy training with Hugo to notice anyone else around, let alone Eliza and Adora. His father had made sure of this. Ren had started training basically from the time he could walk and talk. While he didn't consider himself a Career, there were plenty others in District One and anywhere else, that would. At the thought of his father, he wondered if Hugo had gotten home and told him what happened. More than likely he did, if there was one thing that Hugo had that Ren didn't, it was his tendancy to blab about things. While Hugo had trouble doing so, Ren could hold a secret forever, if needed.
He looked over to Adora, smiling a little at the way she spoke about her brother. He shook his head. "I promise I won't tell him, Adora." He said sincerely. "It's nice to meet you." He glanced back at Eliza, including both of the girls in his next words. "I'm Ren, by the way." He looked down at Eliza's hand when she flinched and then turned back to look at Adora as she offered to help. He nodded with gratitude. "Could you? Your fingers are smaller than mine. I mean...if its okay with you?" He turned to Eliza, the question lingering in his eyes.
(( Bad post, sorry. :/ ))

A light giggle bubbled up from somewhere inside her at Ren's promise to not tell her brother. Suddenly, she lunged forward and wrapped her arms around his shoulders in a joyous hug though, just as quick as she had done it, she was back kneeling in the same spot she had been before. Her frosty blue eyes returned to gazing at the bleeding hand in a mixture of disgust and wonder; watching as the blond man plucked out pieces of wood. A weak shiver worked it's way up her spine. She could tell that the girl was in pain with the way she kept trying to pull her hand back.
"Just calm down... Ummm.... Uhhh..." Adora stared at the girl as she tried to bring a name from the fog otherwise known as her memory. But nothing swam to memory. So, instead, she went with the first thing that came to mind. "Blackberry. We're trying to help you. The sooner we get the splinters out, the sooner we can get your hand bandaged. Then it'll stop hurting, okay? So, the nickname 'Blackberry' wasn't exactly the best. Cut the girl some slack. She hardly knew the other. If it weren't for her hair being black, she probably would have come up with something even worse.
Her eyes slowly shifted to look at the blond one. What was his name? He said it like three seconds ago. It started with an 'R'... Reminded her of a type of bird... What was it? Robin? No... That's a girl's name. R... Re... Ren! It was Ren! She wriggled in absolute delight having finally remembered a name.
"No, I don't mind, Ren. I understand. I like to help, anyway~!" With a giggle in her voice, she took Blackberry's hand and carefully, gingerly, started to pull out the remaining splinters. She made sure to keep a firm grip on her wrist so she couldn't pull it back. Adora didn't want to hurt the girl even more.

Eliza smiled as he said that it was nice to meet her. She loved meeting the careers especially when they were cute. Ren happened to be one of those careers. Eliza laughed as Adora called her blackberry. Eliza had never told Adora her name before, but many other people had. Perhaps even her brother had talked to Adora about Eliza.
As Adora took her hand and began pulling out the smaller splinters, she found out why Adora had a strong grip on her wrist. Every time one of the splinters was pulled out of her skin, she tried pulling her hand away, but with Adora's grip, she couldn't move it much. Eliza looked at Ren. She realized that she had seen him a few days ago, he had been training with the boy that he had told to go home.
"So who was with you earlier this week, and today?" she asked as they pulled out another few splinters. She wondered how many were left in her hand, but she didn't want to look down and see her own blood forming on her hand.

He watched Adora, impressed by the way she'd grabbed hold of Eliza's wrist so firmly and was simply pulling out the splinters without wincing. He felt a wide smile spread across his lips when she wrapped her arms around him in a hug and wondered why he'd never introduced himself to these two before. They seemed nice enough and Ren had to admit that he liked Adora's enthusiasm and Eliza's smile. He plopped down onto his bottom, resting his hands on his knees, watching as Adora went to work.
He turned back to Eliza, suddenly remembering that he'd sent his brother home. He would have to make up the lost training time later. He knew how much Hugo enjoyed it, but Ren was intrigued by getting to know these two girls whom he shared a home with. Eliza had made it clear that she wasn't a Career, he could hear the sound of distaste in her voice. Still, he wondered why neither of them had taken up any training, sure it would help in the arena? He shrugged, knowing that sometimes the ones who seemed the less trained might end up kicking his ass and winning.
He looked up at Eliza when she started to speak. He glanced over his shoulder, expecting to still see Hugo lingering, waiting for him, but his brother had disappeared. He turned back to the two girls. "That was my brother Hugo," he replied with a soft smile. His eyes shifted to her hand for a brief moment before he looked back into her face. "I'm trying to get him ready for the Reaping, you know, just in case..." He trailed off, he didn't want to think about what would happen if his brother's name was called.
