Age: 17

Appearance:
Paul is a rather stocky, well muscled young adult. Standing at 6 foot 6 inches and weighing in at approximately 254 pounds, he seems to be the next Tribute for the 74th Hunger Games. The flesh that covers his bones, muscles, and such is a deep tan from long hours of training. His dirty-blonde hair is cut to extreme shortness, being nothing but stubble on his scalp. His facial hair is non-existent, however he tells everyone that when he either wins the Hunger Games or is too old to participate in them he will grow a goatee.
Several women have commented on his sea blue eyes, saying that they seem to see into their souls. His usually attire is nothing but a pair of shorts since he spends most of the hours in the day training. But if one is lucky enough, they will catch him in a white muscle shirt. He wears a homemade shell necklace made by an ex-girlfriend as well.
Personality:
Paul is considered a bright and accepting individual. He always seems to be someone that brightens a gloomy situation, either by acts of kindness or a rare joke. He seems to be on the good side of almost everybody. When something is bothering him, it shows only in his eyes as he will out a facade on his face. He refuses to show any kind of weakness, whether it be tears or a bad day. He believes he must remain strong and hopeful for those around him.
However when he is alone anywhere, he lets the hidden emotions loose. Many times he has gone down to the cellar of his parents house to do just this. The tears since the 70th Hunger Games are from Annie Dobrev and how her killing her fellow Career changed his view of her. He still had feelings for her that he held deep down in his soul. That’s why he kept the necklace she made for him and the same reason he wore it everyday.
History:
Paul's childhood was similar to most of Career's childhoods. He was well fed and trained from a young age, but not as vigorously as other Careers since he was still rather young. His main training had to do with making knots and nets which the trainer, Finnick Odair, said that learning how to make them was like learning how to ride a bike. Once you learned you never forgot. Paul took these words to heart and practiced every night on his knot tying skill and making nets. When he was ten he showed off his skill to Finnick, whom agreed to start training him in everything else he would need.
Every year the training would grow harder and harder until he was old enough to be entered in the Reaping. Then the training intensified drastically and within the first month of training, Paul was burned out. His body wouldn't respond to any order he gave them. It frightened both him and his family. But Finnick only laughed and said that Paul's body resisted the training longer than he had expected and that the burn out was normal. It was just the body breaking down it's first physical wall. Paul was ordered to rest until he regained control over his body.
When he was thirteen he met future Hunger Games Victor Annie Dobrev and instantly fell for her. It took him several months to work up the courage to ask her out. But when he did, he was happily surprised by her answer. A year into their relationship, she gave him the necklace he still wears around his neck. In return he gave her a ring he spent all the money he had saved in his life on. He felt a deep connection with her and showed any emotions he had freely. Even the ones he felt made him look weak.
When Annie was drawn for the Reaping, Paul wished he could have taken her place. He didn't want her to die and knowing that's what the mentors had planned for, Paul spent the hour given to him for his good-bye to Annie holding her and letting tears run down his face. He couldn't say the three words he so desperately wanted to. Instead he opted for a kiss and to show his affection for her. When the hour was over, Paul had to be dragged out of the room by Peacekeepers.
He watched intently during Annie's Hunger Games, skipping out on training. He wanted to see if she would go down fighting, but she surprised him greatly by killing the Career she was supposed to die for. This outraged everybody but Paul. He was ecstatic that she had won, but his father beat it out of him saying she disgraced the District with that act of betrayal. Once Annie was home, Paul broke up with her while marks from his father's constant beatings were evident. The last words he had ever said to her were the three he wanted to say back when she was chosen for the Reaping. The simple "I love you"
Since then, Paul has avoided all contact with Annie by focusing entirely on his training. Spending every waking minute doing what Finnick ordered him to do. His strength, speed, and cardio drastically increased due to this.
